A defibrillator given to the Saint-Sauveur Chamber of Commerce

It’s the Chambre de Commerce et de Tourisme de la Vallée de Saint-Sauveur’s turn to benefit from the generosity of the Fondation Médicale des Laurentides et des Pays-d’en-Haut.

The chamber of commerce has received a defibrillator that will be installed in Georges-Filion park during the summer, and in the Ski Museum during the winter. “These two strategic locations were chosen because of the large numbers of people found there,” explains the executive director of the Fondation Médicale des Laurentides et des Pays-d’en-Haut, Daniel Desjardins.

The defibrillator is an electronic device used to restart heart function in a patient. Invented by a doctor in 1947, this machine was conceived with the goal of saving patients in cardiac arrest.

Indispensable

“The defibrillator is now indispensable. This move fulfills our goals which consist of being closer to patients by providing the best local services, together with the Family Medicine Groups (FMG), hospitals, CLSCs and CHSLDs in the region,” says Mr. Desjardins.

This new contribution brings to twelve the number of devices distributed across the territory. Several health co-ops and many clinics have benefitted from similar gifts in the past.
