Two new clothing drop boxes installed in Sainte-Agathe

The Fondation Médicale des Laurentides et des Pays-d’en-Haut continues the installation of drop boxes to collect used clothing.

Two more drop boxes have recently been installed in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, one at Tim Hortons (245 Rue Principale) and the other at the Metro supermarket (1050 Rue Principale Est). These drop boxes are in addition to the one installed earlier at Lortie et Martin (20 Rue St-Paul Est). “We owe many thanks to the owners of these businesses,” states the executive director of the Fondation Médicale des Laurentides et des Pays-d’en-Haut, Daniel Desjardins.

Goal

“This wonderful project would not have been possible without the involvement of all these business owners,” Mr. Desjardins underlines. “What’s important for us is that all this used clothing stays in the community and serves the people of the area. It also provides great visibility for the Fondation. We hope that the population will choose to use the Fondation’s drop boxes rather than other ones in the region. We hope, too, that, like many other cities in Quebec, the council elected on November 5 will create regulations limiting the installation of such boxes to local groups only so that donations remain in the service of the community.”

“Eventually, we hope to install a dozen of these boxes just in Sainte-Agathe. Sainte-Agathe is our first step. We plan to ultimately cover Sainte-Adèle, Mont-Tremblant and all the rest of the region,” explains Mr. Desjardins.

“Of course, we can’t accomplish this without the involvement of our local business community. This is a challenge for our local businesses to rise to,” insists Mr.  Desjardins.

These clothing drop boxes serve to fill the shelves of the Trésors de la Fondation thrift shop. The public is welcome to drop in every Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The thrift shop is located in the Place de la Fondation compound at 50 Rue Corbeil, in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts.

Remember that a donation to, or a purchase from, the Trésors de la Fondation shop is a donation directly to the Fondation and, at the same time, to the region’s health.
