An achievement 100% underwritten by the Fondation Médicale

????????????????????????????????????

The Laurentian Hospital in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts can take pride in having a medical and palliative care wing that is comfortable and well equipped for people at the end of their lives as well as for their families and the staff.

“We can take pride in our involvement in this success,” explains the executive director of the Fondation Médicale des Laurentides et des Pays-d’en-Haut, Daniel Desjardins. “The 12 rooms in this facility were refurbished 100% by the Fondation Médicale.”

A valued service

The statistics are a testament to this success. “Even though four beds are also used for general medicine, most of the beds benefit oncology care and palliative services. Seventy percent of the time, this unit is pretty busy,” explains the manager in charge of this unit, Hélène Langlois. “This is a service that is highly valued by patients and families. We are very pleased with the support of the Fondation and we don’t hesitate to underline its involvement to our clientele. Without the Fondation, it would have been impossible to do such a good job of refurbishing this wing.”

Every room is equipped with a CD radio and geriatric chairs. As well, a nook has been provided for members of the medical staff who need a rest.

“It is important for us that the people of the Laurentides and Pays-d’en-Haut MRCs benefit from the best facilities possible, with the best health professionals and the best care,” concludes Mr. Desjardins.
